SOMERSET — The metal detector in a western Pennsylvania county courthouse was set to beeping for an unusual reason: a metal bar from a scaffold that fell through a glass window in the building's dome.
Reportedly, nobody was hurt in the incident Tuesday, though the Somerset County sheriff's deputy who mans the detector at the courthouse entrance was a little startled.
Deputy Robert Logsdon says he had just opened the courthouse doors in the morning when he heard glass breaking and saw the bar land near the metal detector which he says "beeped and beeped."
A contractor has been working on windows outside the courthouse dome, which is more than 100 feet above the lobby where the bar fell. The courthouse is about 65 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
