Ligambi’s attorneys will ask a federal judge today to release him on bond after a jury deadlocked or acquitted him of all charges last month after a four-month racketeering trial.

PHILADELPHIA TO HOST WORLDWIDE CATHOLIC FAMILIES EVENT IN 2015

Archbishop Charles Chaput will release details later today on the city serving as the North American host for the World Meeting of Families. The event traditionally draws hundreds of thousands of people from around the world to the host city.

SIDNEY CROSBY’S TURN TO SPELL EVGENI MALKIN WHILE HE’S OUT WITH A CONCUSSION

Malkin, the National Hockey League’s reigning MVP, missed his first game Sunday night since suffering a concussion in the Pittsburgh Penguins’ Friday night win against the Florid Panthers. Crosby had three points in Malkin’s first game on the injured list, a 5-3 win over Tampa Bay. Malkin will miss the Penguins’ three-game road trip beginning tomorrow night in Florida.

POLICE SAY MAN LURED WOMAN, DAUGHTER TO SCENE OF DEADLY SHOOTING IN PARKING LOT

Westmoreland County Coroner Kenneth Bacha says 21-year-old Michael Lunsford of Murrysville shot and killed 50-year-old Gina Llewellyn of Allegheny Township before killing himself. Lunsford also wounded Llewellyn’s daughter as part of what police are calling a domestic dispute Saturday night.

MORE COMING FORWARD TO CLAIM ABUSE BY FRANCISCAN WHO KILLED SELF AT MONASTERY

Attorney Mitchell Garabedian says about 50 more people have come forward to say they were sexually abused at Catholic schools in Pennsylvania and Ohio by Brother Stephen Baker, who coached or taught at the schools.
