TYRONE —
A man has been jailed in central Pennsylvania after being ordered to stand trial on his ninth drunken-driving arrest, because prosecutors say the man has seven aliases — with seven different birth dates — and two Social Security numbers that he's used after his arrests in several other states.
The public defender for 28-year-old Yevgeniy Yefraimov, of Tyrone, didn't immediately return a call for comment Wednesday.
Yefraimov waived his preliminary hearing Tuesday on a charge of driving with a blood-alcohol content more than twice the state's legal limit on Thursday.
Blair County prosecutors persuaded a district judge in Tyrone to jail Yefraimov because of his arrest record in at least 10 states — including eight prior drunken driving cases — and his allegedly prolific use of aliases.
Yefraimov remained jailed Wednesday, unable to post $35,000 bond.
