INDIANA —
A Pittsburgh area woman faces attempted homicide charges, and a search for an accomplice is underway, for allegedly trying to shoot a Mercer County teen and then setting him on fire on a rural southwestern Indiana County roadside.
State police in Indiana say Thomas A. Pierce, 19, of Farrell, was stripped, bound and focred into a tote box after a disagreement occurred with Marlena Jones, 34, and an unnamed man after the trio headed to Pittsburgh to buy drugs.
“He was then transported to a wooded area north of Route 286 ... and (Jones) attempted to shoot the victim but the handgun malfunctioned,” Trooper Scott Mackanick wrote in a news release.
Pierce was then doused with an accelerant and lit on fire - but was able to snuff out the flames, primarily receiving burns on his left arm, state police said.
A passerby found Pierce while he was fleeing the scene and took him to Indiana Regional Hospital for treatment, Mackanick wrote.
Jones was taken into custody at her Homestead residence and was returned to Indiana County where she was arraigned and jailed on $50,000 bond.
An investigation remains underway.

Ottawa rallies to top Pittsburgh
